In several minutes after beginning of the performance the audience is involuntarily absorbed
in atmosphere of anxiety and sorrow. The play of actors, sets, light tell us: “The catastrophe has
already occurred, but main events and troubles are ahead”. The most surprising is how Chinese
performers could be so deep in the world of Russian characters, imbued with thoughts and ideas
of their personages and capable to deliver their feelings. It is also striking that we see a real acting
ensemble, a group of like-minded persons who tell us a fascinating, but at the same time very didactic
story!

Leonid Alimov
Leonid Alimov was born in 1970. He
graduated from the N.K. Cherkasov
Leningrad State Theatre, Music and
Cinematography Institute (present
St. Petersburg Theatre Arts Acad-
emy), as actor and director (class of
Lev Dodin). Since 1994 to 2004, he
worked in the Academic MALY Drama
Theatre – Theatre of Europe (St. Pe-
tersburg). Now he is an actor of the
BALTIC HOUSE Theatre-Festival, and
also plays in several other St. Peters-
burg theatres – Alexandrinsky Thea-
tre, PRIYUT KOMEDIANTA, OSOBNIAK,
Theatre NA VASILIEVSKOM. L. Alimov
combines his theatre career with
fruitful work in cinema. He acted
in films directed by S. Snezhkin,
Yu. Mamin, A. Rogozhkin, A. Bala-
banov and others.
Leonid Alimov is a twice winner
of the
Zolotoy Sofit (Golden Batten)
Highest St. Petersburg Theatre Prize.
In 2013, Allimov made his debut as
a director and staged performance
Stalin. The Night
in the BALTIC HOUSE
Theatre-Festival.
